TRIPIL is a private, not-for-profit Independent Living corporation located within Southwestern Pennsylvania providing a blend of services and advocacy to the community-at-large and individuals experiencing disabilities that promote integration, consumer control and choice.
Established in 2005 by a grant received from Pennsylvania's Department of Labor and Industry, a regional Direct Care Workers' Center was created by TRIPIL to address The workforce crisis which threatens to diminish the accessibility and quality of long-term, in-home care.
The Direct Care Center offers an array of services to include, this Registry. The goals of the Direct Care Centers Registry include:
- Matching pre-screened, qualified direct care workers with employers
- Assisting direct care workers to increase incomes by making it easier for them to combine multiple part time jobs
- Offering participation with a larger group making it possible to qualify at some later date for affordable health benefits
- Providing an avenue for direct care workers to access available employment via a network of job assistance programs
By registering, direct care workers are eligible to receive services from Direct Care Workers' Center including:
- "Best practices" training developed from cutting edge resources provided by Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute
- Pre- and Post-Employment Services designed to address worker recruitment and retention
- Job Counseling and Matching
